Sorry for a couple of weeks off, but I’m finally back! Here’s the link for the brand new podcast! As always, follow me on Twitter at @jeffscottshow and find me on Facebook at Jeff Scott Show.
The Boston Marathon Bombers made the Onion into real life. The older (now dead) bomber was on two different terrorist watch lists thanks to information from the Russians (who understand how dangerous Chechens can be), and they both had guns despite the fact that they didn’t have a permit to own guns. The bombers attended a radical mosque that could be creating more Islamist terrorists in the Boston area.
It also turns out that the bombers may have been on welfare, but the state of Massachusetts won’t give all the details, citing privacy concerns. Howie Carr says that we deserve to know what we paid for.
There is a big discussion about Miranda Rights with regard to the surviving bomber. He was talking before his rights were read, but he definitely was entitled to those rights.
Following the Boston Marathon bombing, New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg says we need to change our interpretation of the Constitution. Bloomberg scares me more than Obama does at this point.
Here’s my piece on the media coverage of the Boston Marathon Bombing.
The middle class, who used to strive for high achievement, now see themselves as merely surviving.
It seems like we see statistics like this every week: a record 8.9 million people are now on disability, and a record 1 in 5 households is on food stamps, while the cost of food stamp fraud has more than doubled in three years. Dependency is spreading—which is part of the goal, as proven by the fact that there are actually food stamp recruiters.
The underground economy is growing, and it may be the only reason the United States’ economy is still afloat.
While Maryland is looking at between a 25-50% increase in the cost of health insurance premiums under ObamaCare, members of Congress were trying this week to exempt themselves from the law, which all goes back to the beginning of ObamaCare. State and local governments may be pushing their employees to ObamaCare rather than providing health insurance.
The Senate rushed to pass a bill to impose a sales tax on internet purchases. They are also working on a $100 million flu vaccine tax. Meanwhile, the tax code is so complex that the GAO once gave 19 professional tax preparers some tax information, and none of them generated a return that was correct. It’s time to simplify the tax code, which may actually save some money. Last year the IRS issued $11 billion in improper tax credits through the Earned Income Tax Credit.
Even though Washington area airports were spared the impact of sequestration cuts of the air traffic controller furloughs, Congress worked quickly to stop furloughs by the FAA. Meanwhile, ObamaCare officials were not subject to furlough.
The richest man in the world has made billions of dollars off of taxpayer-funded free cell phones for the poor. The program was even offered to Senator Claire McCaskill.
The guy who attacked the Family Research Council admitted that he did it because they’re anti-gay. That would be confirmation of another left-wing domestic terrorist, and yet we get crickets from the media.
Does this University of Connecticut Husky logo look all rape-y to you? Because it does to at least one feminist.
Members of Congress were told last week that the Syrian government has used sarin gas against rebels there. Look for the usual suspects (like John McCain) to start calling for war there.
I have to admit that I respect President Obama’s idea to discourage his daughters from getting tattoos.
Former Congressional Member Anthony Weiner is trying to make a comeback, but he can’t guarantee that there aren’t more pictures of his formerly Congressional member that may surface.
Federal authorities issued indictments against gang members and jail guards in Baltimore, including four prison guards who were impregnated by an inmate.
After 396 arrests, a woman has begged for parole, promising that she will change. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me 396 times, how dumb am I?
Idiot Congressman Hank Johnson (D-GA) is concerned about the nation’s helium supply for balloons for children’s parties.
In a new segment, “Tales From Government Education,” middle school girls were told to ask each other for a kiss during an anti-bullying presentation; a middle school on an army base sent a student to the office for wearing a “Support Our Troops” T-Shirt; and an 8th grader was suspended for wearing an NRA shirt.
Given the crap that happens in government schools, it’s hard to blame Democrat politicians for sending their kids to private schools, but easy to blame them for then opposing vouchers for poorer kids to get out of the failing government schools.
In this week’s Sign of the Downfall of Western Civilization, toddlers are becoming so addicted to iPads that they require therapy.
This week’s Schadenfreude of the Week is a Dubai bus driver who thought he was going to get away with raping a female United States sailor. Instead, she kicked his ass.
