Podcast: Winning Liberty Votes Through Empathy and Outreach

Here’s the link for the brand new podcast!  I made up for taking last week off, so don’t miss it!  As always, follow me on Twitter at @jeffscottshow and find me on Facebook at Jeff Scott Show.

This may be the defining question of conservatism today:  Do we on the right still trust the people?  The problem is, they’re not giving us much reason to.  I explore this in depth on the show today, along with the President of the American Enterprise Institute saying that conservatives and Republicans should care more about the poor and the impact of CPAC’s decisions and the anti-gay conservatives’ impact on the conservative movement.

This video has gone viral showing the level of income inequality in the United States.  The implication is that the rich are too rich and the poor are too poor, without any examination of why or how to solve the problem.  Your takeaway is supposed to be that we should redistribute more money from the rich to the poor, but it ignores where the rich people live and what they do and the fact that the rich are already paying the highest taxes in 30 years.  Undaunted, Democrats are still desperately looking for their next opportunity to raise taxes.

Federal revenues will be at record highs this year.  We’ll still have roughly $1 trillion deficits this year.  That’s no big deal, though, according to New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, who thinks that the United States can borrow as much money as it wants forever.

Despite all the fear-mongering over the sequester, the sky hasn’t fallen.  Of course, programs like welfare and food stamps haven’t been touched, but the administration is telling bureaucrats to make the cuts as painful as they promised they would be rather than mitigating the pain.  Over at United Liberty, Tom Knighton shows how easy it would really be to make the sequester cuts.

The real aftermath of the sequester: On the first day it was in effect, the federal government posted 400 job openings, the TSA purchased $50 million worth of new uniforms, the State Department sent $250 million to the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt and $37 million to Pakistan.  But the White House cancelled tours to try to make it look like they’re suffering under the sequester.  House Republican Louie Gohmert tried to make Obama stop taking golf vacations on the taxpayer dime while the White House tours are shut down, but the leadership didn’t have the cojones to take it up.

Democrat Rep. Maxine Waters wins the “stupid comment of the week” by claiming that over 170 million jobs will be lost due to the sequester.  Of course, the sequester cuts are RAAAAAACIST and part of the War On Women according to the Congressional Black Caucus.

Blaming the sequester, the Department of Homeland Security will be releasing a total of 5,000 criminal aliens from prisons.  DHS Secretary “Big Sis” Napolitano claims that security lines at airports have doubled, which the airports showed to be a lie.

In reality, bigger spending cuts are needed to really help the American economy.

Proving that foreign aid really just puts money in the pockets of government leaders, Sweden is demanding that Uganda give foreign aid back.  When was the last time the United States did that?

The Snowquester, as it’s being called in the DC area, cancelled a House hearing on global warming.

In January, Americans saw the biggest monthly drop in incomes in 20 years, including the biggest drop in disposable income ever recorded.

Obama is butthurt over any opposition, because he always takes it personally.

It turns out that the conspiracy theories about the government buying up huge amounts of ammunition aren’t such a big deal, given the scale of the government.  The scale of the government, on the other hand, is a big deal.

Sen. Rand Paul is filibustering the nomination of John Brennan to be CIA director in protest of the Obama Administration’s claim that they have the right to kill Americans on American soil using drones.

The Republican leadership really is useless.  Some Republicans are trying to prevent the Postal Service from cutting Saturday delivery.

Dear Republicans:  How many times do I have to tell you not to talk about rape and abortion?  Just stop!  Of course, when Democrats say equally stupid things about rape and guns, they get free passes.

The TSA is now going to allow pocket knives on airplanes.  Will box cutters be legal too?  Meanwhile, the TSA will probably still search your bags if you have sex toys in them.

Cuba auctioned off humidors and cigars to help fund their health care system.  This is the same health care system that saved Hugo Chavez’ life.  Oh wait…

Speaking of now-dead socialist thug Hugo Chavez, he was worth $2 billion.  He was really good at redistributing the wealth…to himself.  Despite that, the far left is mourning Chavez and the far-left website ThinkProgress had to tell Democrats not to eulogize the monster.

The founder of Subway sub shops says that his business could not get started today due to federal regulations.

The religion of pieces sentenced a 15-year-old rape victim to 100 lashes for having premarital sex in the Maldives.  This is the same religion that famed atheist and proven coward Richard Dawkins claims to know nothing about.

Thomas Sowell had two brilliant columns this week, one about economic mobility and the other about bureaucracies and their budget politics.

Former basketball player and useful idiot Dennis Rodman visited North Korea, and shortly afterwards Kim Jong “Mentally” Un-Stable promised to cancel the cease-fire that has been in effect since 1953.

When Joe Biden says something about guns, do exactly the opposite.

The Justice Department says that children do not need, and have no right to, mothers.  All you need is government, kids; after all, government is the only thing that we all belong to.

A “FREEDOM” license plate is illegal in the District of Columbia.  Yeah, that sounds about right…

In zero-tolerance idiocy, a 7-year-old was suspended for biting his pop-tart into the shape of a gun and a Florida high school student was suspended for disarming a gunman.

Newlywed lesbians want to open a marijuana shop in Washington State.  Yeah, I’m fine with that.

A Connecticut state lawmaker told a 17-year-old girl that he had a snake under his desk.  I wonder if that was the line that Clinton used on Monica Lewinsky?

Thousands of liters of whisky were washed down the drain in Scotland, and the story was about the effect on waste water treatment.  What a tragedy.

Apparently men who like big breasts are more likely to have “oppressive beliefs” about women.

It turns out that sex is a better cure for headaches than pain killers.  Excuse me while I print this and give it to my wife…

This week’s Schadenfreude of the Week comes to us in the media, which doesn’t like being bullied by the Obama administration after spending the last 6 years as Obama’s navel-gazers of choice.

This week’s Sign of the Downfall of Western Civilization is Yale University hosting a “sensitivity training” workshop teaching students to be sensitive to bestiality.  This is just preparation for accepting our future Muslim overlords.
